Alternating Current or Alternating Voltage

V Vo sin t I I o sin t
Alternating Current or Alternating Voltage is that which
changes its magnitude instantaneously with a change of direction at definite
interval of time

Where
v-instantaneous value of alternating voltage
Vo-Maximum Value of alternating Voltage
I-instantaneous value of alternating Current
Io-Maximum Value of alternating Current
-angular velocity
Cycle
A complete set of positive and negative instantaneous values of the alternating
quantity is called Cycle
Frequency
Number of cycles per second is called frequency. Its units is hertz (Hz)
Time period
The time required for one cycle is called time period

Advantage of AC over DC

High Voltage can be generated easily using AC generator whereas ,DC

generator generating voltage is limited to few 100 V
Voltage level of ac can be changed easily with help of transformer
AC motors are cheaper when compared to Dc motors
AC transmission Is more efficient
