    Frederick Loewe (1901-1988) was a Viennese-American composer known for his collaborations with lyricist Alan Jay Lerner. Lerner (1918-1986) was born in New York and studied at Harvard. The two met and had great success writing musicals together including Brigadoon (1947), Paint Your Wagon (1951), My Fair Lady (1956), and Camelot (1960). Their shows were critical and commercial hits, with My Fair Lady becoming one of the longest running Broadway musicals at the time and earning over $42 million for its cast recording.
