evaluating student progress and achievement, and (2) What did or will you do to help your students and their
Parents understand (a) the evaluation criteria you have established for this class/subject as well as (b) the
reports regarding the student's overall progress and achievement in tho class/subject?
| determined what major assessments are appropriate for evaluating my
studenf's?progress and achievement by making sure they are aligned with the
South Carolina Curriculum Standards and Indicators, along with the Orangeburg
School District 5 pacing guide. | decided that students will be assessed
formatively throughout the week (Monday-Thursday) so they can learn the
information at a steady pace and through immediate feedback. The formative
assessments include Khahoot quizzes done through the computer, multiple
choice, matching, true-false quizzes, and oral questioning. On Fridays, students’
knowledge will be assessed through summative assessments. The summative
assessments will be based upon the formative assessments we've been working
on the entire week. The summative assessments include types of short answer
tests and performance based tests. In order to help my students and their
parents/guardians understand the evaluation criteria | have established for the
class,| will provide them with detailed rubrics explaining the requirements for
each assessment. The students will recs their graded assessments within two
days of them completing the task. Grades will be sent home every week for
parents to sign. Progress reports will be sent home bi-weekly to inform
parents/guardians of their child's academic progress. Parents also have all-
access to PowerSchool where they can view their child’s grades at any time.
Section IV B: Assossment of Student Performance ~ Record Keeping
Describe your system for maintaining records of student progress and achievement for this subject. Also,
discuss your procedures for aggregating and displaying the data. Discuss how you will use the data to make
Instructional decisions.A. System for maintaining records of student progress and achievement: All
student assessments will be graded and returned within two days of
completion of the assignment. Students will receive all assessments that
they've completed for the week stapled together to take home. Students
must return their assessments the next class period with all assessments
signed to notify me that parents/guardians have viewed their child’s work,
A progress report of all students’ assessments will also be sent out bi-
weekly for parents/guardians to view and sign. A progress report of each
student will be kept on file in classroom records, so if parents/guardians
come to visit the room for any reason, | will have the appropriate
documentation to support any claims. al? 4,
ve ine
B. Procedures for aggregating and displaying data: Students’ assessments
will be aggregated the same day the task is completed. Immediately after
students’ assessments are aggregated, their grades will be uploaded to
PowerSchool. Students’ grades will displayed all around the classroom and
on bulletin boards. Only work of top quality, great penmanship, and
received an “A” on the grading scale will be posted around the classroom
and on the bulletin board for others to see. Students’ work that is displayed
will be changed at least once a month. This will be done in order to show
that students have excellence in all subjects, not just one in particular.
C. How will you use the data to make instructional decisions? | will analyze
my students’ performance on assessments on a daily basis. | will do this to
see if my students really are comprehending what I’m teaching. | will use
the data to see if | need to change my instructional methods to reach the
students better. This data will also be used to see what components need
to be retaught, or if | need to give students extra practice so they can
master all components of the material.
