My Mateal Family Tree
‘My family’s background and history is long and rich with culture. Looking into my
family history I discovered that not much is known about my Pathe ancestrybecase his

anything about his father's family. Going off this information I delved into my mother's ancestry
and was shocked on how much information there was, My mother has hooks that include ll the
history for both her maternal and paternal lineage where I found all my information needed for

the project. These books provided information on countries of origin, how they arived to obotn,
America and what they did once they eame here. These book also include ther jobs and any posen
nilitary service that may have occurred.
My mother’s maternal side is Womack. The Womack ancestry can be traced all the way
back to the 164 century to Henry Womack of Norfolk Co, England, The first Immigrant from the
‘Womack family to immigrate to America was William Womack somewhere from 1644-1655 the
year is unknown, but the method of travel was by boat as one ofthe first hundreds of eolony
doa
settlers. Upon arrival to America William purchased a lot of land'and became a farmer, atypical

trend for the Womack family The majority of my research was on my great grandfather and
great grandmother, Dexter Jones Womack and Iva Hunter Womack. My great grandfather Dexter
‘Womack was born on February 27, 1884 and died on April 3, 1952 and Iva Womack was born
‘on October 9, 1894 and died on March 5, 1985. Dexter Womack was a farmer by occupation hadCashion 2
a large plot of land about 120 acers in size based in Johnston Country North Carolina. Upon his
death the land was divided between his nine living children, One of his many children being my
grandmother Rachel Elizabeth Womack later known as Rachel Womack Johnson, Rachel was
born on November 25, 1928 and died on January 12, 1982, I never knew my grandmother on my
maternal side but from what I have been told she was a beautiful strong woman, very
compassionate and loved by all. My grandmother then had five children one of whicifay mother
Susan Elizabeth Johnson, My mother, born September 8, 1960, currently works as a Vice-
president at Piedmont Electric Cooperative and is mother to both my sister Sarah Elizabeth

Her paternal side [I need to gather more on lineage, lost information but am gathering
when I go home J. My grandfather William C. Johnson was bom on June 8, 1928 and died on
.. My grandfather owned and ran Johnson’s Lumber Company out of Sanford, North Carolina
till it closed down, then opened and ran his own toy shop. My grandfather loved to play card
‘games such as poker and Texas Hold'em.
Looking at this history I found plenty of other cool parts of my lineage. I found that
ancestors on both the Johnson and Womack sides of my family fought during the Civil War for
the Confederacy. Also throughout this project I have found out some hobbies my ancestors all
shared. My ancestors were all farmers and loved to hunt and fish, just like I do. Currently my
mother is in Tees ofmy Great grandfather's shotgun. This shotgun belonged to William
Johnson and was then passed down to my grandfather William C. Johnson, mid OBE
shotgun was made by Bayard Arms in the late 1800’s and is in great condition. Previously this,
‘was used for hunting and providing food for his family to eat, now it is used as an heirloom and
will be passed down eventually.Cashion 3
