100 Reasons to Live
1 Hour per Week
In tenth grade of high school, I participated in a community service project called 100 Reasons to live. As a result of
a local suicide epidemic, locals came together and formed a project to raise awareness on the reasons why life is
beautiful, and why suicide is not the answer. Here my friend and I wrote a song about the great value of life, and
dedicated many hours of community service to preparing this art gala and informing the public on the reasons to
live. This was a mass attempt to raise suicide awareness within a largely effected community.

Leadership
Since the age of fourteen I have sponsored many people for their black belt tests. Due to the fact that I received my
second-degree black belt freshman year (and am currently a third degree black belt), I had the ability to help others
prepare for their test and be the person to approve them for the opportunity to become a black belt after working
with them for many months to prepare. In addition to this, for the past two summers I have helped plan and run the
karate school's summer "boot camp," which lasts for three weeks.
I participated in my elementary school's Peer Leadership Program in eighth grade. Here I was taught problem
solving skills, and was trained to be a peer leader and mediator.
