WORLD
35% in sub-Saharan Africa
15% in North Africa and the Mideast
8% in America (mainly in Canada)
1% in Asia and Oceania (mostly in
Vietnam, where French was the
most spoken language by the high
society, but now it has become an
"old-fashioned" language)

FRENCH IN AFRICA
A majority of the world's French-speaking
population lives in Africa. According to the 2007
report by the Organisation internationale de la
Francophonie, an estimated 115 million African
people can speak French as either afirst or a
second language

WHY LEARN FRENCH

Because it may not be the most spoken
language in the world, not even the second or
the third, but it is, apart from English, the main
language in Africa, where the people don't know
other language but theirs.
So, if you ever decide to go to Africa to help,
you will need English, which luckily you already
know, and French, which you are learning right
now.
