Statement From Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins
World AIDS Day is an important opportunity to help those living with HIV/AIDS, and continue our progress in the fight against this disease. There are 35 million people across the globe who live with HIV/AIDS, including over 130,000 New Yorkers. We must ensure that those New Yorkers and their families have the support services they require. Senate Democratic advocacy and support helped ensure the inclusion of over $1 million in the 2015-2016 State Budget for HIV/AIDS related services including education, outreach, treatment and prevention programs. The fight against HIV/AIDS requires meaningful actions by state government and the Senate Democrats will continue to ensure that those New Yorkers impacted by HIV/AIDS receive the quality assistance and support they deserve. ### Follow on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/NYSenDems New York State Senate | DemocraticConferenceNews@nysenate.gov | 518-455-2415
