HERKIMER, NY The Herkimer Generals mens soccer team had five players selected to the 2015 Mountain
Valley All-Conference Team, comprised of three sophomores and two freshman.
The three sophomores were Femi Kaffo (London, England), Moulid Somow (Utica, NY) and Connor
Doogan (Belfast, Ireland). Kaffo and Somow both manned the pitch as midfielders, combining for nine goals and 17
assists together. Helping each to those totals was multiple goal and assist efforts against Jamestown, Clinton and
Mohawk Valley. Kaffo had two goals and three assists in a home game against the Jayhawks, then four games later
tallied two more goals and assists in a road game against the Cougars. Somows best effort came against rival
Mohawk Valley in October at home, amassing two goals and two assists in an 8-1 victory.
Not to be forgotten, Doogan scored five goals for the Generals in 18 games played. The defender also had a
multiple goal effort against the Hawks, just like Somow, then scored the only goal at the national tournament for
Herkimer, giving them a 1-0 lead over Camden in the 29th minute after he connected with Somow on a corner kick.
The two freshman honored on the All-Conference Team were Emmanuel Nelson (Schenectady, NY) and
Harold Marin (Bridgeport, CT). Nelson managed three goals and three assists as a forward, while Marin helped the
defense hold opponents to the most shutouts in the nation (10), outscoring them 63-to-12 for a 0.65 goals against
average in 2015.
To have five players selected to the All Mountain Valley Conference Team is amazing, said Head Mens
Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. All of the players selected worked extremely hard throughout the season to earn this
recognition. All are deserving. Im proud of them!
