Native American Project

Due November 18
Report will be done in school
Report: (25 points) Please write or type a minimum one page report about
your chosen Native American tribe. Make a cover page with your name and
the tribe.
You must include information about the following topics:
* Where the tribe lived (and/or lives today)
* Food and how they obtained it
* Homes/Shelter and what it was made out of
* Clothing
* Art/ Music/Language/Communication
* Family Life
* Interesting information
* Bonus points given for illustrations, maps, pictures etc.
*****Your report will be graded on completeness of the above information,
neatness, organization and be sure to write the report in your own words.

Project: (25 points) You will also complete a project that shows some of the
information you learned while researching your report. Some examples of
acceptable projects are:
* Diorama
* Three- Dimensional Poster
* Mobile
* Model
*Scrapbook
* You may also have a creative idea of your own but please get teacher
approval before you begin.

******Your project will be graded on neatness, how well the project

represents your tribe, effort, and the amount of the project that was
completed by the student.

Speech: Please be prepared to give a 4-6 minute speech about your report
and project. You may read your report but then be ready to share
information about your project and to answer questions. Your presentation
will be graded based upon informational content and preparedness, eye
contact and volume. Be sure to practice with a family member.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Each student will have some time to research their tribe in the computer lab
and the classroom. We will go through the process together. Family members
may be asked to proofread and edit report . I sincerely appreciate your effort
at home with this project and report. I know it takes much time on your part
with a 3rd grader, but I feel the payoff later in 4th and 5th grade is worth it. I
hope you enjoy it and please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
