    Whenifirststartedmiddleschoolilovedtoreadbooks,buteventuallyasthe
    yearwentonthebookskeptgettingharder,andireallystruggledtoreadoutloud.My
    mothernoticedthatiwashavingtroubleandtriedtohelp,atfirstshethoughtiwas
    havingtroublebecauseinthenewbooksiwaslearningfromhadsmallerwordsand
    theywereclosertogether.Shetriedgettingmesomebooksthathadlargerwordsand
    thatiwantedtoread,someofthebooksshegotformewereCalloftheWild,andThe
    LightningThieftwobooksienjoyedreadingtonoend,butiwasstillhavingtrouble
    readingthesebooks.Wedecidedtogoandseeaprofessional.

    Aftergoingthroughdozensoftestsandtalkingtotheprofessionalhefiguredout
    thatihaddyslexia.Dyslexiaisalearningdisabilitythatisverycommonover10%ofthe
    populationhasit,anditaffectsone'sabilitytobreakdownandunderstandwords.

    Whenmymotherfoundoutthatihaddyslexiashespentalotoftimehelpingme
    withmyreading.Westruggledthroughthedyslexiabyreadingloadsofbooksand
    eventuallyiwasconfidentenoughtoreadmostwordsinclasses.ifitwasnotformy
    momiwouldn'tbeinthisclasstodayandiwouldnotbetheconfidentindividualiam
    today.
