The internet was invented in the 1950s, when electronic
computers had been developed.

Internet.

slightly earlier, creating Nyx in January 1989.

necessary?
A firewall is a software program or hardware device that
intercepts communications between your computer and the
outside network and does some processing on them to help
block malicious connections.
Firewalls are more recommended than necessary. There's
thousands of sources on the internet for malicious activity, and
people can scan your network and try to take your PC over for
several reasons. Firewall is a virtual wall which protects your
computer from outside threats from internet hackers, viruses
etc.
