Definition
Consists of numbers, words, sounds and
images and has no particular meaning
attached to them.

e.g. 120515 could be 12/05/15, which is a
date. Changes from data to information.
General name for the parts which make up a
piece of equipment.

the CPU. Can be internal or external, for
example printers, monitors, scanners, hard
