Personal data:
Facts and opinions that are kept about a living individual
Data subject:
The person that the data is being collected about
Data processor/user: Someone who accesses and uses the data as part of their job
Data controller:
Could be the person in charge of the organisation they have permission to collect
and store data
Informant commissioner:
Responsible for enforcing the DPA across the UK
DPA Rules:
1. Personal data should be obtained and processed fairly and lawfully
2. Personal data can only be held for a specified purpose
3. Personal data should be adequate and relevant
4. Personal data must be kept up-to-date and accurate
5. Personal data shouldnt be kept for longer than necessary
6. Data must be processed in accordance with the rights of the data subject
7. Authorised access only
8. Personal data should not be transferred outside countries in the EU
SENSITIVE DATA:
Racial or ethnic origin
Membership of a trade union
Criminal convictions
Political opinions
Religious beliefs
