Dear Alex,

Until now, only one person has ever swam the entire length of the Mississippi River.
Chris Ring is attempting to become the second to swim from Minnesota all the way
to New Orleans.

Chris is a Navy veteran swimming in memory of the fallen in order to raise
awareness. He has partnered with Legacies Alive in a challenge called Swim for
Their Sacrifice. The mission of Legacies Alive is to support families of soldiers killed
in combat.

This story is relevant to your current audience, especially those who read your
article, Fonda to continue nonprofit work because both of these topics are for a
good cause. Ring will cross into Kentucky later today, Friday, and finish in New
Orleans in early December. I thought you would be interested in covering this
incredible challenge because of your timely location. I imagine that this is something
the community would be very excited to learn more about.

Ring is available for phone interviews from 7a.m. until 8:30 a.m., which is when he
starts swimming. He is also available for interviews either on the phone or in person
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please feel free to contact me at 773-123-1234 or
hsmerch2@illinois.edu if you would like more information or to set up an interview.

Thanks so much for your consideration about an important person doing something
for a worthy cause, and we look forward to working with you on a feature.

Sincerely,
