Are there close-ups of the artists and

star image motifs?

Is there reference to the notion of

looking?

Are there intertextual references?

Is the video performance, narrative or
concept based? How much of each is
there?

Observations
Kodaline is known to be a rock band,
however this song is indie pop with a
slow tempo.
The music video visuals corresponds
directly to the lyrics as it shows a
male and female relationship forming
with setbacks and difficulties. It is
portrayed by the costume of the male
being different and how the male is
being bullied as such in his workplace
but fancies the female employee.
The tempo of the music starts slow
and the transitions between scenes
stay a slow pace to flow with the
music.
The music video does not show close
ups of the artist or any star image
motifs, it is occupied by the story of
the male character trying to be known
as being normal.
Yes, throughout the male is trying to
get the females attention and she
looks but looks away again in parts.
An example, where they catch each
others eye in the lift but she walks
away when he tries to open the doors
for her. This shows willingness and
attraction from the male character.
None
The video performance is strongly
narrative, there is clear story
unfolding all the way through. I
wouldnt say concept is used at all as
there is a clear understanding of a real
narrative.
