Inner Ear
Vibrations from the middle ear enter
the cochlea (7) and turn into
electrical signals that travel along the
auditory nerve (8) to the brain.

Outer Ear
Sound waves enter
the ear (1) and
move through the
ear canal. (2)

Middle Ear
Sound waves push against the ear drum (3) and
cause it to vibrate. Vibrations move through three
tiny bones: the hammer or malleus (4), the anvil
or incus (5) and the stirrup or stapes (6).
