JERALYN S. OBSINA

Purposes of Instructional Goals

and Objectives
1. It provides direction for the instructional
process by clarifying the intended learning
outcomes.
2. It conveys instructional intent to other
stakeholders such as students, parents,
school officials and the public.
3. It provides basis for assessing the
performance of the students by describing
the performance to be measured.

What is a GOAL?
Goals are broad, generalized
statements about what is to
be learned. Think of them as
a target to be reached, or
hit.

EXAMPLE
"I want to achieve success
in the field of genetic
research and do what no
one has ever done."

What are OBJECTIVES?

Objectives are the foundation upon which
you can build lessons and assessments
that you can prove to meet your overall
course or lesson goals.

EXAMPLE
"I want to complete the thesis on
genetic research within this
month."
