Nurses Office
Teachers from the mini building should NEVER send any students to the nurses office with
another student monitor. When you allow students to leave the mini building unescorted by an
adult, you are putting their safety at risk. Please contact the office so they may assign a school
aide to escort mini building students to and from the mini building. Thank you.
Highlight Magazine
Please note that Highlight Magazines will arrive towards the middle of each month. Thank you.

All Classroom Teachers: Assessments

Please follow the monthly Assessment Calendar and meet with your team so you are clear on the
target dates for administering assessments, so they can be created and copied all at once. It is very
difficult to create a test and have copies made within a short period of time. The turn- around is
at least one week. Please note that if you will be completing a Math, Fundations, or any other
unit and you want to administer an assessment earlier, you need to notify Jamie Polcari and Naomi
Laks at least one week in advance so the tests can be created and copies can be made. Thank you
for your assistance.

F&P Benchmark Assessment Books:
We purchased several extra F&P Benchmark Assessment Systems and placed the extra copies of
the books in folders in the closet outside the Teacher's Lounge. These books should be signed out
for when you borrow them. We are missing many books. Some folders do not contain even one
copy of the book when there should be three copies. Every classroom has a Benchmark
Assessment System so if you need an upper or lower level from another F&P System, it should be
available in the closet. Please look through your books and rooms to see if you have any extra
books and please return them to the closet ASAP.
On Demand Math Standards Assessments
In order to assess how students are doing on each math standard, we will begin administering
brief on-demand assessments to track their progress. Next week, we will begin with the
NBT (Numbers and Operations in Base 10) standard. All grades will receive an assessment with
5 multiple choice and 1 constructed response question. For grades 3-5, past NYS Math test
questions will be used for the constructed response. The results of these standard by standard
assessments will give teachers data to help them target students who have not yet mastered the
standard. It is imperative that you use the testing results to plan for targeted small group
instruction. Please see Jamie Polcari with any questions!
