Goal: Using appropriate teamwork and effective communication, the scouts
must save all of the victims using the materials provided. Description: Participants must move all victims from the unsafe structure (Bucket #1) around a cone to the safe area (bucket #2). Materials: Rescue apparatus: 8 PVC Pipes Unsafe and safe areas: 2 Buckets Victims: Golf Balls 1 cone Team members are issued a piece of pipe which they hold next to another team members pipe to create a gutter effect. This will allows a ball to roll down the pipe. The groups task is to get the ball to roll over a set distance and into a container at the end. This must be achieved without the participants touching the ball or allowing the ball to stop or drop to the floor. However, the distance the group must transport the balls is greater than the distance of all the pipes combined (end to end). This means that once the ball has passed through their length of pipe they must join the end of the pipeline so the balls can continue to run the full distance. Rules: 1) Pipes may not be connected to each other. 2) The victim may never touch any part of the rescuer. 3) If a rescuer has a victim in the pipe, that rescuer MAY NOT walk around. 4) Victims and rescuers must follow the safe path. 5) Buckets may NOT be moved. 6) If a scout drops a victim, they must return that victim to the unsafe structure and start again. 7) Victims may NOT be thrown to the safe structure. 8) Scouts may discuss their strategy only with their patrol members. 9) Have fun! Scouts will be scored on the time it takes them to safely deliver as many victims as they can in the allotted time frame.
