Gears and Compound Gear Trains

P4: A spur gear has 32 teeth, a circular pitch of 0.6 in, and a magnitude of the pitch line
velocity of 15 in per second. What is the rotational speed of the gear?

P5: Two spur gears in mesh have 350 and 550 teeth, respectively.
a) What is the value of the speed ratio for the gear set?
b) If the output gear is to spin slower than the input gear, which gear should be chosen
as output?
c) If the output rotation rate is desired to be 10 rpm, what should the input rotation
rate be?

All gears are straight spur. Determine:

a) circular pitch of gear 5
b) pitch circle diameter of gear 4
c) centre-to-centre distance between gears 2 and 3
d) total speed ratio of the mechanism
