    Microsoft Office replaces Word Perfect


    For the past 15 years the Algonquin Board has used Word Perfect as our man word processor.
    This year we have purchased Microsoft Word due to the prevalence of businesses that use it. The
    biggest advantage to Word Perfect was that the Ministry of Education provided it free of charge
    to all Ontario schools. Word on the other hand must be purchased with what is called a site
    license. The product is sold on a machine-by-machine basis. We purchases 150 copies of
    Microsoft Office at $75 per machine. This price is an educational price and saved the board
    thousands of dollars.
