Through this curriculas learning and training, students will experience a transformation
in personal and professional growth that manifests in a commitment to a life-long learning of
cultural awareness, competence, integrity and personal responsibility.

Students will have the ability to identify and understand issues of individual and cultural
differences, issues of power, privilege, oppression, and an affirmation of the richness of human
differences, ideas, and beliefs.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to the APA Ethical Guidelines,
sound ethical reasoning and accountability to the larger community, and the acquisition of
psychological maturity.
Students will utilize activities that promote, restore, sustain, and/or enhance positive
functioning and a sense of well-being in clients through preventive, developmental, and/or
remedial services.
This course emphasizes the awareness, knowledge and skills required of therapist and
supervisors to be effective in this diverse society. Multi-cultural models and frameworks will be
explored in relation to their impact on therapeutic, instructional, and supervisory relationships.
The therapist role will be to examine the relationship to social justice, advocacy, conflict
resolution, cultural self-awareness, and the nature of biases, prejudices, and processes of
intentional and unintentional oppression and discrimination. All forms of diversity concerns are
explored, including issues relating to spirituality/religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age,
gender, and others. This course would be wide in focus as a general introduction to
multiculturalism and diversity.

This course requires students to practice the knowledge they acquired in cultural diversity
class, in addition, it will have an emphasis on clinical application with clients. Using a systems
approach, the course will address privilege, inherent characteristics, mechanisms and the ways
those mechanisms affect the lives of less privileged individuals and groups. Identity development
models (racial and sexual orientation) will be applied, and the quality of life, challenges and
coping mechanisms of diverse populations will be explored. This course will specifically address
clinical considerations in relation to gender, ethnicity, religion/spirituality, class, race, immigrant
status, identity, sexual orientation, and language. The course will be narrower in focus than the
previous course.
This seminar addresses issues related to the emerging role of professional psychologists
in diverse settings. Areas addressed include the practice and techniques of consultation, teaching,
models, and techniques of supervision, administration, practice management, documentation, and
marketing methods. This course will be wide in focus as it relates to the role of the professional
psychologists
