I-Net Applications
• The internet changed the way companies connect
to their customers and trading partners. It is
beginning to change the way companies connect to
their employees as well. These new applications
are called intranets because they use Internet
technology over an internal network. If an
intranet allows outsiders (trading partners and/or
customers) to access it, it becomes an extranet.
This book uses i-net as an umbrella term to cover
all three types of applications – Internet-based,
intranet-based and extranet-based.
