Title:
Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Unit
Description:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) requires direct and individualized care to a wide range of women before,
during and after the delivery of their baby. Labor and Delivery nurses are responsible for providing not
only the medical needs, but also the emotional needs of the patient throughout the birthing process. Care
is provided based on the scientific principles of nursing and by utilizing the nursing process. The optimal
candidates for this L&D position:
Exhibit exceptional basic nursing care
Maintain clear, effective communication with the patient and other members of the team
Efficiently identifies patient requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and
patient families
Maintains compassion, professionalism and patient confidence at all times
Possess optimal stress coping skills
Exhibits excellent skills including but not limited to: documentation, medication administration,
cultural competency, patient advocacy, clinical skills, bedside manner, health
promotion/maintenance, infection control, delegation, and leadership
Education Requirements:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Bachelors or Associates Degree in Nursing
Position Requirements:
Graduated from an accredited nursing program
Current Nursing License in good standing with the Arizona State Board of Nursing
Able to lift 20 pounds and able to move, lift and transfer up to 50 pounds
ACLS and PALS certified
2 years experience in the medical/surgical or intensive care unit preferred
OR 1 year experience in a L&D unit
