Staircases design

Staircases design
5.1 introduction
Astaire is a very important part in any building it is a
major way for way transporting people through the building so it
must be wide, comfortable and safe to use. And the following is
brief discussion about stairs .
A normal staircase consists of three parts, which are the
stringer, riser, and the tread . striers are the structure that
supports the staircase. The height of the individual stair is known
as the riser or the rise and the width of the stair is termed as the
tread. There are two stringers on each side of the staircase.
When constructing a stair, functionality is the most important
consideration.
Extreme accuracy must be used for a safe design. Before
beginning construction, one should consult not only the national
building code requirements, but also the local building code
requirements.
After determining the correct code requirements for the stair,
consider the stairs design aspects, measurements have to be
taken while building staircases. However, one should be careful
while taking measurements for the staircase. Improper
measurements will cause the staircase to come up longer than
needed and will cause unnecessary waste of space .one should
measure the vertical height of the staircase, which will be from
the landing point to the level height of the upper floor. One should
also measure the horizontal length of the stairway, which would
be from the end of the staircase to the landing on the edge of the
upper floor.

Remember, the construction materials that use in it will dictate

outcome of the finished product, and quality materials will
produce a quality job, when use a lower grade of material the
contains knots and voids, the stair may encounter cracking at a
late date.
