Two Truths and a Lie

Purpose: To get to know more about the students and the school counselor. This game promotes
interpersonal communication in a fun and casual atmosphere.
Age: All ages
Group size: 6-10 people
Materials needed: None
Time: 20 minutes
Activity: Instruct students to form a circle that includes school counselor. Each player much
think of three statements about themselves. Two statements must be true and one must be false.
For each person, he or she shares the three statements (in any order) to the group. The group
must then try to decipher which statement is false. The group will then vote on which they feel is
a lie. At the end of each round, the person reveals which one was a lie.
Modifications: This game can be modified into a game called, Two Truths and a Dream Wish,
in which students share a dream wish about themselves in which they wish were true. This could
relate well to students who are graduating high school and transitioning into careers or college
and who want to explore their feelings about their future endeavors.
