MUSIC, THE HELPFUL

QUESTION

Does Music Effect Memory?

DOES MUSIC AFFECT MEMORY?

This project answers(ABSTRACT)
the question of whether or not music can

help us while we are studying or doing work. This problem will

be tested because most student these days are well into the
world of music, and some teachers think it is a good thing and
let their kids listen to music in his/her class. Some teachers
find this to be false and strictly ban all phones or electronic
devices from their classroom. I for one love music and I think it
helps students with their schoolwork, as it is most of the time
a helpful distraction. It keeps us from getting too stressed out
or work too hard, and it provides a fun way of doing work.
Its not work if you enjoy doing whatever it is your doing. My
result concluded my hypothesis to be correct, because people
completed the experiment faster with music then without it

HYPOTHESIS
If people listen to music while
completing a memory game, they will
do better then when they listen
without the music.

PROCEDURE
1. Play music
2. Start the stopwatch as soon as person begins the
game
3. Record how long it takes each person to complete
the memory game while listening to the music
4. Repeat process with each new person and each
new song

MATERIALS
Phone
Speakers
Stopwatch
26 Playing Cards

RESULTS AND DATA

My conclusion was correct because most of the
participants concluded with better results with the
music than when no music was being heard.

VARIABLES

Independent Variable- The song

Dependent Variable-Time it took to complete memory
game
Control- Time it took to complete the memory game
without the music

CONCLUSION
My conclusion was correct because each person took
longer without the music then they did with he music,
so the music helped them with the memory game.
