Lookingbackonit,Iseethatmypapercouldhaveusedafewmoreantieuthanasiasourcestobalanceitoutanddiscourage
biasbutoverallIdonotfeelasifitpushedthereaderinanycertaindirection.Addingawiderrangeofbeliefswillstrengthenthe
paperandwillallowthereadertomoreaccuratelypinpointtheirbeliefonthesubject,itwillalsomakethereadermore
comfortableintrustingwhattheyhavereadratherthanquestioningthepurposeforthepiece.Inacontroversialtopicsuchas
euthanasia,eliminatingconformationbiasisextremelydifficultbecauseofthestrongemotionalconnectionassociatedwithit,
peopletendtogetverydefensivewhenalovedoneisdying.Thisallowsforconformationbiasinyoursourcesandresearch,
interestingstoriesandwellwrittenarticleswrittenbypeoplewhohavebeenemotionallyaffectedbythetopicmayswingyouas
anauthororthereaderonewayversustheother.InthefirstpaperIturnedin,IfeelasifIdidadheretoconformationbiasjusta
littlebitbynotprovidingenoughinformationabouttheconsofeuthanasia.ItmayappearthatIamproeuthanasiaoramtryingto
persuadethereadertobeproeuthanasiasimplybecauseIdidnotdescribebothsidesoftheargumentinfull.Forthisupcoming
projectIwilltryhardertorepresenteachsideequally.

Areliablesourceisonethatcontainsmanydraftsandpeerreviewstoensurethatitisfactualandunbiased.Thesepeer
reviewscancomefromandeditorsuchasinanewspaperormagazineorfromfellowscholarsandclassmatessuchasin
scholarlybooksandarticles.Ascholarlypieceistypicallythemostreliablebecauseitgoesthroughthemostprocessesandis
reviewedtimeaftertimetoensurethatitisareliableresource.However,thedrawbackofscholarlysourcesisthattheyarea
littlemoredifficulttocomebyandrequirestheresearchertoinvesthimorherselfalittlebitdeeperintofindingtheinformation
theywishtoacquire.Awebsiteontheotherhand,thoughveryeasytoaccess,doesnothavetobereviewedbyanyoneto
checkforfactuality,apersoncanpostanythingheorshewouldliketopostonthewebmakingwebpagesextremelyunreliable
tosomeonetryingtocollectvaluableresearch.
Ibelievethatmostpeoplejudgethewebsitesreliabilitybasedonitsappearance,ifthedesignofthepagelooksofficialthenthe
informationmustbetrue.Eventhoughweknowthisisfalse,websitesaresoeasytoobtainthatmostpeopledon'tlookmuch
further,perceivingscholarlysourcesasasourcebeyondwhattheyarelookingfor.

addvaluetotheconversationabouteuthanasiabutinsteadspeaksmoretowardstheideaofwhattreatmentsareavailableto
sickpatients.Theauthorviewstheincreaseineuthanasiaasalackofgoodtreatments,hestatesthateventhebestpain
medicationdisprovesthequalityoflifeasitonlycausesthepatienttobecomemoreawareofhis/herstatedepressingthem
further.

aremostreliableforoursake.Butwhatmakesasourcewithonepeerreviewmorereliable
thanasourcewithnone?youcannothelpbuttoquestionthis.Iagreethatinformationfrom
websitesthatcanbefoundfromasimpleGooglesearchismucheasiertofindthanthosethat
aredeemedtobe"better"butIalsobelievethatevensomeofthosesourcecanhavegood
qualityinformationpresented.Iwroteaboutmostofthesameideas.Ilikehowyoustatedthe
ideathatwe(people)tendtobaseawebsite'sreliabilityontheappearance."Ifawebsitelooks
official,thenitprobablyisofficial."Muchofthishastodowithsociety'semphasison
appearanceasawhole.Iamevenguiltyofthislogic.
Ifinditveryinterestingthataresearcherdescribedeuthanasiaasbargainhunting.Iwould

moreaccuratelypinpointtheirbeliefonthesubject,itwillalsomakethereadermore
comfortableintrustingwhattheyhavereadratherthanquestioningthepurposefor
thepiece.Itisimportanttoaddafewremarksthatchallengeyourpersonal
argument,soyourreadercanunderstandthatthereismorethanjustone,sole
solutiontoagiventopic.However,youdonotwanttoaddanoverwhelmingamount
ofinformationthatgoesagainstyourthesis.Byaddingavastamountofinformation
thatgoesagainstyourthesis,youunintentionallycontradictyourselfwithinyourown
paper.Indoingso,youraudiencemaymisunderstandyouroriginalargument,and

moreinteresting.Whenreadingpartone,itseemsasthoughyoudidagreatjobofattempting
toeliminateconfirmationbiasbyutilizingaroughlyevennumberofsourcesfrombothpoints
ofview.Lateroninthisparagraphyoutalkedaboutthedifficultiesofminimizingconfirmation
becausesomeofyoursourcesweresoemotional.Withatopicsuchasyours,Ibelievethatit
istotallynecessarytousesourcesfrompeoplethathaveexperiencedalovedonethathas
gonethroughthisemotionalexperience.Itisimportanttonotonlynotetheunemotional
objectivestatisticsofeuthanasia,butalsothelessquantifiableemotionalexperiences.
Inparttwo,youstatedhowpeoplethinkthat"ifthedesignofthepagelooksofficialthenthe
