Classroom lessons/ small groups will be in accordance with West Virginia School
Counseling & American School Counselor Association standards and models in the
areas of:
Personal/social:
Self-esteem, divorce, grief, violence prevention, personal goals, family issues, angermanagement, relationship issues, etc.
Career:
Career awareness, career interest, high school preparation
Academic:
Study skills, test taking skills, time management, organization, personal academic goals.
Programs and services for staff:
Collaboration, consultation, resources, strategies, referrals for students
Programs and services for parents:
Parent education, referrals for mental health and basic needs, community resources,
home visits, collaboration, consultation, child development information, high school
orientation.
Programs and services for the community:
Community resource information, referrals, collaborations
The Professional School Counselor will be available to individual students/parents/teachers for
appropriate School Counseling Program Activities at the following times:
8:30am - 3:30pm
- Student walk in available or by appointment
- Parents call in or by appointment
- Staff walk in, by appointment, or leave notice
Professional Development
The administrator agrees to provide opportunity for the Professional School
Counselor to participate in the following professional activities:
