EDCI 3125 Fall 2015
LSU SCIENCE FIELD EXPERIENCE PORTFOLIO RUBRIC
TASK
You will create a Electronic Portfolio of your Block II field experience that includes
your teaching philosophy and comprehensively shares your field experience
including your revised lessons plans and an overall personal reflection. As you
prepare for your teaching career, it is important to put the teaching methods you learn about in class into
practice. Field experience teaching provides you with the opportunity to develop effective teaching skills and to
become more proficient in the content knowledge. Reflection on your teaching practices and student learning
will allow you to refine your technique and learn to assess your students learning.
Use this rubric to guide the development of your Electronic Portfolio as well as to assess you own performance.
Your performance score must be entered before submitting your Electronic Portfolio.

All students are encouraged to complete the final two components of the
Electronic Portfolio by going the extra mile to demonstrate
professionalism and their investment in the field experience component
of this course. However, students can still earn a high score (95%, A,
Proficient) on their Electronic Portfolio without completing the final
two components. But to earn an advanced score of 100 points or to
make up for possible weak areas you may want to consider completing
the final two components.
The WOW Factor (3 points)
Students are rewarded for going the extra mile to demonstrate
professionalism and their investment in the field experience component
of this course.
8. Exceptional professional presentation of the Electronic Portfolio
contents. Additional artifact elements (i.e., pictures of your teaching,
samples/pictures of student work, etc.) are included that give a clear
picture of your teaching and/or reflection on your teaching.
*Adding additional introductory paragraphs, information, quotes can
help you to earn the WOW Factor points.
Professional Participation, Preparedness, Dress, and Attendance (2
points)
9. Earn two points by providing a short, concise, paragraph describing
how you demonstrated the attributes of an effective educator through
your professional participation, preparedness, dress, and attendance
during the three weeks of science field experience. If there were areas in
which you feel you failed to perform at the highest level, yet you have
learned from the experience you may still earn some points for
describing how you will make adjustments for the future. Label this
page separately, being sure to add an appropriate title and to use 12pt
Times New Roman Font, double space, 1 margins.

Student Comments: I worked hard on my electronic portfolio and hope you like the details I put into it. The
reason I took a few points away from my lesson plans is because I just felt like I was missing something but am
not sure what. I also took some of my reflection points away because my papers are only one paragraph long
each; Even though I said what I thought I feel like it may be too short.
