A Statistical Comparison of Booker and Tarr Elementary Schools - Clark County, Nevada

In comparing these two schools, I see the largest disparity between the numbers of students for whom English is their second language and the
numbers participating in the free or reduced lunch program. Both factors are notably more prevalent at Booker. This leads me to hypothesize
that language barrier, and the strains of poverty, likely affect the scholastic outcomes as reflected by the compared reading levels. The
percentages of students performing at the emerging/developing level at Booker versus the exceeds standards level are nearly reverse the
percentages at Tarr.
The statistical proof of the existence of this disparity is disheartening to me as a future teacher motivates my effort to be part of a solution.
