10:30 AM-12:30 PM (2 hours)


Today was my first day at my internship. I met with the companys owner
who talked a lot about what he expects from his employees. We discussed
how many new customers we need to have come through the door in order
to make money for the start up business. We talked about the main tasks I
would be assigned over my internship including email marketing, updating
current website, creating a brochure, attend a hockey tournament, research,
and updating social media. After we went over what I would be tasked to do
over the internship we brainstormed and assigned tasks to distribute
between employees for the week. I was assigned with getting contact
information from every Cleveland Suburban Hockey League coach and
manager, high school, and college.

Today I worked on finding every Cleveland Suburban Hockey League coach
and manager contact information. The new list on the CSHL website was not
updated for the new year so I compiled all the 2014 information onto
multiple excel worksheets depending on organization. I was assigned to
create a company letter head that could easily be used by supervisors in the
company.

Today I worked on getting contact information for every high school hockey
program in the Cleveland area. Since there is no specific website that has
every coaches name for the high school leagues I had to look up every high
school, and then search for websites that contain the schools athletic teams
or team webpages. I then moved the information I found to excel worksheets
depending on leagues. During the last hour of work, I was run through how to
use the scheduling system, credit card machine, how to turn on lights, music,
TV, and cleaning procedures.

Today I worked on getting contact information from all the college hockey
teams in Northeast Ohio. I recorded the information I found on excel
worksheets. I sat down with my supervisor to brainstorm ideas on how to
influence coaches to want to send their players to the training facility to
train. Our main ideas had to focus around limited ice time at rinks, rinks not

being flooded so early in the season, and lack of time to help all the players
that need help in a large team practice.

Today I worked on brainstorming ideas for the company newsletter. I was
assigned to write one story for the newsletter, and decided to write it on the
new goalie coach. I talked with my supervisor on what he expects for the
newsletter, and format options. I sent a mass email through our email list
serve announcing the training facility now has air conditioning. I was
instructed to post the announcement on the Facebook and Twitter pages.

Today I worked on setting up an account on the CSHL message board for
Okicki Hockey Training Center. I had to contact the page supervisor for
permission to use the site to post about the training facility. Later in the day I
had to respond to emails people wrote regarding the air conditioning being
installed. Many people were excited and wanted to book appointments to
come train so I had to coordinate training times with the client and lead
trainer Tim.

Today I worked on coding and posting the CSHL message board post. I wrote
a unique post letting viewers know of the training facility and what we had to
offer youth hockey players. I updated social media accounts retweeting a
clients post on Twitter. On Facebook I posted the companys training video
and a relevant link to youth hockey parents.

Today I worked the front desk of the training facility. I answered phone calls,
responded to client emails, and received clients payment. I worked on
designing my newsletter entry, and started putting together questions to ask
the goalie coach.

Today I meet with my supervisor and company owner for our weekly
meeting. We talked about everything we each completed in the past week
and brainstormed ideas for the upcoming week. I am tasked with getting
contact information for all ADM coaches and managers, and compiling a list
of all board meeting times in the CSHL.

Today I worked on finding contact information for every ADM coach and team
manager in the Cleveland area. I put the information in an excel worksheet
so we can easily reference it when sending emails to the ADM level.

Today I researched when the CSHL board meetings are for the 2014-2015
season. I compiled the dates into a calendar with location and times for my
supervisor and company owner so they can attend the meetings.

Today I worked the front desk at the training facility. I scheduled clients for
upcoming sessions, responded to emails from clients and potential clients,
and researched other sports training facilities in the Cleveland area.

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. We
talked about past weeks work, and brainstormed ideas for the upcoming
week. I was put in charge of planning the table stand at the weekends
hockey tournament, and figuring out what location of the tournament would
be best to attend. Hundreds of hockey players from Ohio, New York,
Pennsylvania, and Michigan will be at the tournament. After the meeting I
started putting together giveaway contest prizes for the table, making a
slideshow of the facility, making contact cards, and purchasing supplies at
Staples for the table.

Attended opening night of the tournament at the Strongsville hockey rink. I
talked to potential clients about the training facility and training options. I

had people who came up to the table fill out contact information that we
could add to our email database.

Attended the second day of the tournament at the rink at Gilmour Academy.
The location has two rinks so hundreds of potential clients were in and out of
the rink all day. I talked to many families about the training facility, training
staff, and training options. I recommended many people to leave contact
information so they could get our emails about upcoming events and
specials.

Attended the final day of the tournament at Gilmour Academy. Slower day
since most people had already visited the table, but was able to get some
flyers out to a few potential clients that did not stop over to the table before.

Attended weekly meeting with supervisor and company owner. Talked about
the success of the tournament. We believe that we attracted many new
players to come train at the training facility. We brainstormed ideas for the
upcoming week and I was assigned with updating social media, and emailing
CSHL coaches letting them know of the facility and team training options.

Today I brainstormed with my supervisor about deals we could offer potential
clients for signing up for a training session. We came up with free skate
sharpening for the 2014-2015 season if they scheduled a session today. I
sent an email through the list serve to clients about the deal, and posted the
deal on company Facebook page.

Today I worked the front desk of the training facility. I received payment from
clients, and booked future sessions. I put together an email to send to over
130 hockey coaches in the CSHL and Cleveland area. I the email explained
what Okicki Hockey Training Center has to offer youth hockey players and
training options.

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. We
talked about the tasks we were assigned the prior week, if they got done,
and our ideas for the upcoming week. I was assigned to email high school
and team managers in the CSHL. High school coaches are not allowed
contact with their players for a few more weeks so by letting them know we
can work with their team before the season is important to build a good
relationship with programs. We are planning on emailing team managers to
try and get team player contacts to try and grow our email list.

Today I put together an email for high school coaches letting them know we
would love to get their team ready for the season before they are allowed to
get on the ice with them. I put together and sent an email to all CSHL team
managers asking for their teams contact list to try and grow our email list so
we can reach more players when we send out promotions and new training
options.

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. We
talked about how much money we made in September, and what our goal is
for October. We brainstormed ideas for the upcoming week and assigned
tasks to each of us. I was assigned with the putting together an email to
send to high school athletic directors about the facility and why they should
allow their hockey teams to come train at the facility. After the meeting I
checked our Facebook page and Twitter, and retweeted a picture a client
tweeted us of her son training at the facility.

Today I worked on putting together and sending an email for high school
athletic directors. The email was difficult for me to write because I was
unsure of how to approach the athletic director in a way that would make
him/her want to fund their hockey team to train at the facility. I sent 48
emails to athletic directors and got responses from 20. Many of them liked
the idea of the training facility and said they would forward the information
to the hockey coach.

Today I worked with my supervisor to put together an announcement about a
skating clinic the facility would be hosting on October 11th. We sent the email
to CSHL, ADM, and high school coaches, as well as everyone in our email list.
I also posted the email and skating YouTube video to the Facebook page.

Today I worked the front desk of the training center. The facility held its first
training clinic today so many new faces were in the building. I was tasked
with greeting new clients, showing them around the facility, getting
paperwork filled out, and receiving paperwork.

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. We
discussed the success of the first clinic held, and decided it would be in the
companys best interest to hold weekly clinics on Sundays. For the upcoming
week I was tasked with putting together an email about the upcoming
stickhandling clinic.

Today I put together an email with my supervisor for the upcoming
stickhandling clinic. Once we send out the email to everyone in our computer
system I posted the clinic to our Facebook page.

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. For
the upcoming week I am tasked with putting together an email about the
upcoming clinic, post on Facebook, and finalize my newsletter article so it
can be sent to clients. After the meeting my supervisor and I put together
the email for the upcoming clinic and posted it on Facebook.

Today I worked on the layout of my newsletter article. Since this is the
companies first ever newsletter I am in charge of designing the layout of the
newsletter. I designed the layout in InDesign, and distributed the layout to
my supervisor who will also be writing newsletters in the future.

Today I met with Zack Nowak the goalie coach. We talked about his
background in goaltending and how he plans on running sessions. After
meeting with Zack Nowak, I was able to finish writing my newsletter, and
send to my supervisor for approval.

Today I sent my newsletter out through our email list. I posted the newsletter
on the companys Facebook page, and printed copies out for the lobby of the
training facility.

Today I worked the front desk of the training center. Today we held our our
shooting clinic. Today we had our largest turn out for a clinic thus far so I had
to educate new clients on the facility, get paper work filled out and entered
into the database, and collect payment.
November 2, 2015

Today I had my weekly meeting with my supervisor and company owner. We
discussed a new training option that we were going to offer at the training

facility. We are creating a testing center so clients can have concrete data of
where they were in the beginning of the season vs the end of the season. I
was tasked with sending an email to everyone in our email list, and posting
the information to Facebook.

Today I met with my supervisor to come up with a list of clinics we can hold
the rest of the month of November. After we came up with the list I was
tasked with creating a flyer to post on the Facebook page, and inside the
facility. I used InDesign to create the flyer.

Today posted the stickhandling clinic information to the Facebook, and sent
the email out through our email database.

Today I went to the training facility to work with my supervisor on putting
together an email to send out to everyone in our database about being open
on in-service days/snow days. Once the email was put together and sent I
posted the information to the Facebook page.

Today I was tasked with creating a Whats New tab on the website. I created
a running list of updates that can easily be added to when new events are
happening or when clinics are happening.

Today I went to the training facility and posted the email for the passing
clinic on the Facebook page and created a social media flyer for the lob. I
used InDesign to create the social media flyer for the lob.

Today I was tasked with creating a brochure for the training center. I used
InDesign to create the brochure. The brochure has training options, pillars of

success, contact information, and pictures. Updated website with new clinic
information.

Today I posted the skating clinic information to the Facebook page, helped
send out emails to clients in the database about the clinic, and updated the
Whats New tab on the website. I had my supervisor sign my final evaluation
form and log my hours.

Today was the last day of my internship. I updated the Whats New tab on
the website, posted on Facebook, and had my supervisor fill out evaluation
forms to turn into my teacher for credit.
