Parent Involvement Policy
2015-2016
The administration, staff, and parents of Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School believe that
working together helps students to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. It is critical that
parents take an active role in their childrens education to facilitate their learning. The schools
must create an atmosphere that is welcoming and nurture on-going conversations between
administration, staff, parents, and the community.

This policy has been jointly developed, with the assistance of parents, and agreed upon
by the Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School and parents of students served in the
school pursuant to Title I. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School will convene an annual
meeting, at a convenient time for parents to evaluate this policy. These meetings will be
held September 16th and September 24th, 2015. The schools parent involvement policy,
newsletters, meeting notices, Accountability Report, flyers, and other communications
developed by staff, parents, and administration will be distributed in an understandable
and uniform format and to the extent practicable, in a language parents can understand.
The parent involvement policy will also be made available to the community.

2. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School will involve parents in an organized, ongoing and
timely way in the planning, review and improvement of Title I programs, school
improvement plan and parent involvement policy. Parent representatives will be chosen
from a pool of interested parents. This meeting will be held mid-year, around January 27,
2016, to assess progress and note ways to improve.
3. The school will hold an annual parent meeting to discuss the participation in Title I and
parent rights, as outlined in ESEA legislation on September 16. 2015.
4. The Educational Involvement Accords are now part of the registration on Infinite Campus.
Parents must review Accords prior to completing their childs registration. Administrators
and teachers will have access to the Accords whenever needed for parent/student
conferences and other occasions. For parents new to the school, the Accords will be
acknowledged in the registration on the computer.
5. A. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School, in order to enhance the schools academic
performance will hold periodic parent meetings to discuss:
a. Nevada State Performance Framework (NEPF)
b. Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS)
c. Assessment Data
d. Discipline Policies
e. Transitioning
f. Report Cards/Progress Notes
g. School Safety
h. School Performance Plans/Goals

Plan for providing materials and training to help parents work with their children through:
i. -Monthly parent meetings
ii. -Curriculum Information Meetings

7. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School will, with the assistance of parents, provide staff
training on how to communicate with parents, regarding student assessment data, Nevada
Academic Content Standards, and report cards. Trainings will also address communication
and collaboration strategies to include parents in assisting their children in the educational
process.
8. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School, where appropriate will coordinate and integrate
parent involvement programs and activities with the on-site Pre-School, Pre-K program,
neighborhood Pre-School programs, and provide other activities such as parent resources
that encourage and support parents in participating to assist their children in the
educational process.
9. Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School will provide reasonable support when requested
by parents. This support is in the areas of the parental involvement, parent nights,
Nevada Academic Content Standards, and all formal assessments given to students.
