APPLICATION OF MEMS IN SPORTS

Smart Surfing (Sys-Evo)

MEMS-enabled (Sys-Evo) a lightweight triangular device that slots on to a
surfboard to give the surfer data on wave height (pressure sensor), speed,
ride time, distance paddled, water temperature, calories burned and much
more.

Users can also input data pre-surf, like tides from the online tide books,
which not only help surfer safety, but can also tell the user when the best
tide moment will be and where. The module itself contains a nine-axis
accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and allows for data to be collected both
in and out of the water.

Nike+ Sports Sensor

A tri-axis accelerometer and four force sensitive resistors (Quantum
Tunneling Composites) that communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth to mobile
computer and display data in user friendly application. Nike+ app lets to
share and compare the stats via social media.

Nike Hyperdunk+ shoes

Tracks pressure exerted, vertical jump height, the number of steps per
second and a measure of NikeFuel. NikeFuel is an accumulation of all the

movements, it calculated the same for everyone and is standard to compare

and compete with friends and other users.
