HCT PEARSON App. Unit: 13: Our Wildlife.
(Vocabulary items: Endangered, Extinct, Carnivore, Herbivore, Habitat, Reptiles, Mammals,
Insects, Domesticated, Nocturnal, Wildlife)
3. What are the lesson objectives?
The lesson will take 2 classes of 50 min duration.
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Learn, practice and use new vocabulary.
2. Find facts about an animals they like using research skills.
3. Create an imaginary animal having combined features of different animals using Switch
Zoo iPad App. And give it a unique name.
4. Take/save photos of the unique animal.
5. Using their critical thinking skills, write an interesting story based on this animal.
(Creative writing)
6. Share this story with classmates by publishing it on Padlet Wall collaborative website or
print it.

Warmer activity.
Vocabulary: Word Matching Activity. (Individual work)
Information gathering/fact finding activity on iPads and writing activity
worksheet. (Pair work)
Make your own animal activity on iPads using Switch Zoo app. (Group work)
Follow-up writing activity on worksheet: Pretend you are the -------------.
Project completion (main story writing) and Homework will be given in the next
lesson.

chosen animal. As I saw, it was new for the students, but there
were no issues with using this app with students.
Uses a variety of learning strategies,
ie groupwork, pairwork etc.
The students were working in group. They can help each other
with the project. By at the have to produce the project
individually.
The teacher was giving extra time for students, because they
did not finish the activity. The students were taking long time
with some of the activities.
