This contract was created and put into effect this ____ day of _______, 2016. This
contract will expire and require an update exactly 365 days from date previously
stated above.
Background:
Farmer to Farmer is a nonprofit coffee producing cooperative established for the
benefit of small family-owned farmers producing organic coffee. Farmer to Farmer
is a member of the Minnesota Crop Improvement Association (MCIA) and their
coffee produced is USDA certified organic.
The purpose for this contract is for mutual working agreement and understanding
of goals between Farmer to Farmer and the producer individual (farmer),
_________________.
This contract will additionally serve as a written source for requesting any
additional assistance (such as harvesting tools, scholarship money for their
children, etc.) the farmer may need to sustain and succeed as a farmer. The
bottom portion of this contract will provide space for the farmers written requests
and will be sent to Farmer to Farmers headquarters from the co-op operation in
country of coffee origin after every coffee harvest (1) and growing period (2),
making that twice per year at a minimum. The farmer will have access to these
forms at any given time they please.

Farmer to Farmer promises to provide the following to farmers:


1. Coordination of the organic coffee production and quality management program.
2. Coordination of the supply of suitable planting material and equipment.
3. Training and technical advice on organic production practices and quality
management.
4. Organizational support to organic coffee producer groups.
5. Provide and replace necessary equipment and supplies as outlined in attached
document before growing season starts.
6. Purchase of coffee cherries from certified organic production through authorized
centers.
7. Guaranteed minimum price of $2.50/lb at time of delivery regardless of quality.
Prices and premiums will be announced at the beginning of each season.
8. Contracts will be renewed every year. Each contract will contain prices, bonuses
and projects that will be laid out by Farmer to Farmer and each producer based on
individual needs.
9. Processing and marketing by Farmer to Farmer will occur in international
markets.
10. Farmer to Farmer will visit Guatemala twice a year to inspect, audit and
maintain relationships with the producers.

As a producer for Farmer to Farmer, I, ___________________ declare:


1. I accept to be a member of Farmer to Farmers coffee and to participate in its
organic coffee production and quality management program.
2. I agree to follow the internal organic regulation (attached) as well as the quality
management guidelines specified by Farmer to Farmer.
3. I will not use synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers on any crop within my
farm.
4. I will only use seeds and plant materials that are approved by Farmer to Farmer
and are not treated with synthetic pesticides.

5. I commit to supply only ripe and undamaged coffee cherries produced on my


certified organic fields. I will supply the fresh cherries to the assigned person by
Farmer to Farmer.
6. I agree to follow the organic management training program as organized by
Farmer to Farmer.
7. I agree to provide any information that Farmer to Farmer may need on the labor,
growing and harvesting processes of my farm.
8. I understand and agree to any inspections or audits Farmer to Farmer may
conduct through-out the year and give all access to fields, buildings and
documents.
9. I understand that any violation of the organic regulation will lead to exclusion
from the program and refusal of the product.
10. I accept all terms and conditions of this contract and recognize my rights and
responsibilities as a producer for Farmer to Farmer.

Non-disclosure agreement:
I agree to allow Farmer to Farmer to use my name, background and a short story
about my life as a producer for Farmer to Farmer in social media, marketing and on
their website to allow customers to get to know who is growing their coffee.
