1. What is the major thesis, or point, of the Yes side?
Evidence about the rates of HPV infections and sexual activity among the
young, the ineffectiveness of abstinence programs, the quantity and quality of
communications between parents and children on sexual issues demonstrates a
need for public health interventions that prevent the harm that HPV causes
among young people.
2.What is the major thesis, or point, of the No side ?
The approval of a vaccine against cancer causing HPV strains a significant public
health advance. Which lack the health care resource for routine cervical cancer
screening, preventing HPV infection has the potential to save millions of life?
3.Briefly state in your own words two facts presented by the Yes side?
The HPV vaccine is not a replacement for cervical cancer screening and
treatment.
Its an additional and valuable tool for fighting cancer.

4. Briefly state in your own words two facts presented by the No Side.
The success of childhood vaccination programs makes them a tempting target
for addition of new vaccines that, while beneficial to public health.
The HPV vaccine doesnt represent a public health necessity of the type that has
justified previous vaccine mandates

5. Briefly state in your own words two opinions presented by the Yes side. The
major thesis cannot be used as one opinion.
In the United States, its common to use vaccinations to reduce disease
including mandatory vaccinations for diseases such as measles and polio that have
relatively low incidence for diseases such as measles and polio that have relatively
low incidence rates for serious harm. The difference with HPV infection is that
vaccination is being recommended to prevent cancer and genital warts that are
related to sexual behavior.
A compulsory vaccination program will better serve populations that are
greatest risk and in most need of health care and social justice.
6. Briefly state in your own words two opinions Presented by the No side. The major
thesis cannot be used as one opinion.
The vaccine is relatively new, and long term safety and effectiveness in the
general population is unknown
The success of childhood vaccination programs makes them a tempting target
for the addition of new vaccine.
7. Identify a fallacy, or a misleading statement, on the Yes side. Explain why you
think its a fallacy or misleading statement.
I didnt find any misleading statement.
8. Identify a fallacy, or a misleading statement, on the
No side. Explain why you think its a fallacy or misleading statement.
The vaccine is relatively new, and long term safety and effectiveness in the
general population is unknown. Even thou its new it does not mean its not effective
to protect people from cervical cancer.

9.Whichside(Tesoro)do you personally feel is most correct now that you have
reviewed the material in these articles? Why?
I personally feel the yes side is correct because if its possible the risk of getting
HPV by getting a vaccine why not do it?
10. Overall, which author impressed you as being the most empirical in
presenting his or her thesis? (Thetis, whichauthor appeared to rely most on
scientific findings, as opposed to unsupported statements?)
Joseph E. Blog because he believes that a principle- based approach to moral
reasoning to conclusion that compulsory HPV vaccinations for teenage girls can be
justified on moral, scientific, and public health grounds.
11. For the author that you think relied more on unsupported statements,
and less on scientific findings,(that is, the less empirical author) please describe
a possible reason for why they may be biased in their opinion?
The authors for the no side I think they relied more on unsupported statements
because they believe that given limited data and experience, mandating HPV
vaccine is premature.
