Set Induction:
Today were going to continue learning about states
of matter. Can someone raise their hand and give one
of the three states of matter?
Learnable Piece: (PPT Presentation)
Yesterday we learned that the three states of matter
are solids, liquids, and gases
Now we are going to learn the properties of each
state
This is how solids look at a molecular level, how
would we describe the movements seen here?
This is a liquid at the molecular level, how would we
describe these movements?
This is a gas, how can we describe the movements
seen here?
To review, how does a solid move? A liquid? And a
gas?
Presentation of New Material/Directions:
Today we will be playing the molecule movement
game
This game is similar to Simon says
When I say a state of matter, solid, liquid, or gas, you
and your group members will act out the movement of
that state until I say the next state of matter
Safety Rules: The space is limited, so please be
aware of your surroundings. Also, some of the
movements for this game require you to be bumping
into your group members, so be careful not to slam

into anyone.
Thumbs up if you understand, does anyone have any
questions?
Transition: *Students will be sitting in rows*

Each row will be a group

First row will take the back left corner of the
classroom
Second row will take the back right corner
Third row will take this front corner
and fourth row will take this front left corner

(If there are more than four rows, rows will be combined.
If there is room for a fifth group in the room, a fifth group
will be added)
Group one can head to their playing area
.. Group two can go now

To review, can someone raise their hand and tell me
how a gas moves?
Can someone tell me how a liquid moves?
And can someone tell me how a gas moves?
