Lesson:

Beginning Letter with the Sound of B

Grade Level: Kindergarten


Time:

1 hour

Goal:

The students of the classroom will be able to be aware of the beginning letter with
the sound of b in the following words such as bear, bat, bee, bag, boy, balloon,
butterfly, broom, bath, and bubble.
Students will also be able to write the letter b

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the pupil will be able to:


a) Recognize the beginning letter with the sound of b.
b) Identify the following words such as bear, bat, bee, bag, boy, balloon, butterfly,
broom, bath, and bubble.
c) Know which item goes with the b word given

Learning Domains:
A. Cognitive
a) Students will remember the letter b and know the letter when they
see it.
b) Students will be able to show you the letter b in words in the
classroom.
c) Students will know the sound the letter b makes.
d) Students will be able to make the sound of the letter b.
e) Students will be able to write the letter b.
f) Students will be able to know the difference between the letter b
from the rest of the alphabet.
g) Students will be able to know the difference between the sound of the
letter b from all of the other letters in the alphabet.
h) Students will be able to think of words themselves that start with the
letter b just by hearing other people around them talk.
B. Psychomotor
a) Students will be able to write the letter b by tracing it over and over
as it is already written by the teacher.

b) Students will be able to write the letter b by watching the teacher


write it on the board several times.

Supplies:

Students need the following materials during this lesson:


a) A pencil
b) A handout with the letter b written several times by the teacher to be traced
by the students.
c) A handout with the words starting with b along with pictures of bear, bat,
bee, bag, boy, balloon, butterfly, broom, bath, and bubble.

Procedure:

Students will come into class and sit in their assigned seats that were given by
their teacher. When the bell rings, the teacher will greet the students. The teacher
will then explain what we the class will be doing on their handout. The two
handouts will be given out. One of the handouts will contain the letter b written
several times by the teacher to be traced by the students. The other handout will
contain words starting with b along with pictures of bear, bat, bee, bag, boy,
balloon, butterfly, broom, bath, and bubble. The first handout the students will do
will be the handout that contains the letter b written several times by the teacher
to be traced by the students. You will explain to them what is needed to be done.
You will go around the classroom to make sure everyone understand. After that
handout is done then you will go onto the next handout that contains the words
start with b along with pictures of bear, bat, bee, bag, boy, balloon, butterfly,
broom, bath, and bubble. On the handout the word bear will be draw to the
picture of the bear in order to show an example to the students.

Evaluation:

Students will be evaluated by their participation in the two handouts whether they
are finished or not.
