ADDIE Lesson
Lesson
In this lesson, the students will be exploring the 5 Digital Citizenship Tips from Common Sense
Media as displayed on the Prezi example. The students will be separated into five groups. Each
group will be responsible for creating a 4-6 minute long YouTube Video about their assigned
tip using iMovie on the iPads. The students will work as a team to create a video that identifies
the given tip, a bad example of the tip, and a good example of the tip. The video should provide
more information about each tip and how we can go about using this tip when using technology
in our classroom and at home.
Analysis
Description of your learners: The students are in 4th grade. There is an even mix of boys and girls
in the classroom. The students are primarily white. All students have access to technology in
school and most of them have access out of school.
Description of your environment: The school environment will be equipped with iPads for every
student. The environment will have a SmartBoard or Symposium in the classroom. The desks
will be seated into pods of four.
Necessary modifications for learners with special needs: The students with special needs will be
strategically placed in a group that is able to help that student when necessary.
Goal(s) of the instructional unit: The goal of the instructional unit is to teach students about
digital citizenship. The students will explore ways to deal with online bullying, learn to give
credit where credit is due, what is appropriate and what is inappropriate to post on social media,
and how to be safe on the internet.
Prerequisite knowledge: The students will already be familiar with how to use iPads. The
students will have been using iPads for at least a few years in an educational setting. The
students will be familiar with the idea of social media, if not use social media themselves.

Formative Assessment:
The students will be formatively assessed through progress monitoring, group meetings, and
their graphic organizer. The groups would meet with the teacher to check in and see how their
project is coming along. It would take multiple days to complete this assignment. Day one would
be focused on the graphic organizer and planning the script. Day two would be focused on
filming the movie. After these steps are completed the students would be given time to edit their
movie on iMovie. The teacher would monitor the students throughout their work time to make
sure they are on track and answer any questions!
