Objectives:
-For the students to maintain a steady beat throughout playing 16th and 8th notes.
Indiana State Music Standards:
-6.2.1Playmelodic,rhythmic,andchordalpatternsbyroteandbyreading.
6.2.5Playmelodies,accompaniments,andensemblepartsexpressivelywithcorrectrhythms,
tempos,anddynamics,independentlyorinensembles.
Materials:
-Drum pad
-Drum Sticks
-Snare Drum Sight Reading 6
Procedures:
-Warm up with doing 8 on a hand
-Divide the students up into pairs
-Assign them two lines of the excerpt and have them work with the partner on the rhythm
-The students will play for the class in pairs
-The students will play the whole excerpt, sight reading the other 8 lines they did not practice
-As a class we will go over to perfect any trouble spots

Assessment:
-I will be able to see how accurately the students are playing the rhythm when they play in
pairs.
