Exhibit: Dual enrollment form

Benchmark: Individuality
Skill: Confidence
My junior year of high school I decided it would be a great idea to knock out some of my
prerequisite college courses by dual enrolling at Jackson College. This optional education path
cuts out high school electives and replaces them with college-level courses partly paid for by the
school. Going in, I had no idea what to really expect as its extremely hard to gauge collegereadiness during the hectic junior year of high school. The experience, as I continue to dual
enroll every semester, has helped me to develop a sense of confidence in my abilities to strapdown and work hard in whatever it is that comes my way.
This semester is the second out of the three semesters I will be dual-enrolled before I
graduate. While I hear of many people getting easy classes at JC, I picked classes that definitely
presented college-level material at a college-level pace. This alone made me realize the work
ethic and determination it would take to do as well as I require of myself. I need these times of
pressure to mold myself into the scholar Ive always wanted and will be in college. Education
should be one of the top priorities in everyones life, and Im certainly no exception. My first
dual enrolled semester I obtained 4.0 GPAs in both of my pre-req. courses (Hum. 131 & Eng.
131) and currently have a 3.7+ GPA in my both of my current courses (Bua. 120 & Soc. 246).
My performance while juggling the needs and events of high school portrays my confidence
towards my future and present goals.
Dual enrolling is a great experience and one that I would definitely recommend to
students looking to gain an edge. I hope to continue working hard to chip away at a degree down
the road. As an adult, it will benefit me tremendously to have confidence in my abilities so that I
can stand as a good example and tackle any obstacle that Ill come across.
