Madeline Hunter Lesson

Cycle
1.Purpose/ Objective
The purpose of todays lesson, why the students need to learn it.
What will they be able to do and how they will show learning as
a result.

2.

Anticipatory Set

A short activity or prompt that focuses the students attention


before the actual lesson begins.

3.

Input

The vocabulary, skills and concepts the teacher will impart to the
students- the stuff kids need to know in order to be successful
in the lesson.

4.

Modeling (show)

The teacher shows or demonstrates what the finished product


will look like.

5.

Guided Practice (follow me)

The teacher leas the students through the steps necessary to


perform that required task. Teacher works through multiple
examples with students.

6. Check for Understanding-

The teacher uses a


variety of questioning strategies to determine if the students
understand the assignment and have grasped the required skills.
Determines whether or not the teacher moves forward or takes a step
back.

7. Independent Practice-

The teacher releases the


students to practice on their own based on #3- #6.

8. Closure-

A review or wrap up of the lesson. Tell me / show


me what was learned today. Every lesson must have closure even if
you are going to build on the topic the next day.
