Two current DACC students, Alexis Reyes and Carlos Garibay, propose a new business letter writing workshop for students and faculty. The workshop would be offered in two one-hour sessions on different days of the week to accommodate schedules. The first day would cover the purposes of different types of business letters. The second day would explain the standard three-part format. The students would lead the workshop sessions at no cost to the department, as they would provide the necessary supplies. They are requesting the department chair's approval to implement this new workshop opportunity on campus.

New Business Letter Workshop Proposal
Dear Susan Wood,
We are bringing forth a proposal for you about a new and innovative workshop. This workshop would not only help the students but may also benefit the faculty, it is design to inform on how to form an effective and understandable business letter. My peer and I have noticed the lack of knowledge on this subject being available at this campus and would like to put forth a workshop that will correct this mistake. This workshop would be available on two different sessions for ten students on each one, because of time constraints on the students and faculty, one of Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30am-9:30am and the other one on Monday and Wednesday at 12:00pm-1:00pm, if at all possible. In the first day this workshop would help the students to understand the purposes of business letters, which are: Inquiry, Sales, Order, Collections, Claim, Adjustment, and Acknowledgment. The format and the three-part organization will be explained furthered on the second day of the workshop. My colleague and I would be available at the times mentioned above to do the workshop but the times can be negotiable. There would be no expenses because we would pay for the supplies; i.e. Mechanical pencils, wedge cap pencil top erasers and paper. Also there wouldnt be any salaries to be paid since we would be presenting the workshop. In conclusion we would really appreciate it if you gave our proposal some serious thought and would let us know if this would be a possibility. You can contact us at the following emails if you have any questions: lexy103@nmsu.edu and carlos49@nmsu.edu. We cant wait to hear from you.
