Nuclear Power Plant: Technical Description

By Andromeda M. Neilson

1. The Fuel
Uranium is a very radioactive
element. When Uranium Pelts are
placed into the fuel rods they
produce energy equivalent to a ton of
coal.
2. The Reactor
In the Reactor, the atoms of Uranium
are split causing the neutrons to
break apart then come back together
with other neurons. During this split
heat is created. The Boron controls
rods helps absorb the energy emitted
by the chain reaction from Uranium.
3. Pressurizer
Water us pressurizer so it could be
kept from boiling.
4. Turbine
The steam is piped and goes through
a turbine. The turbine is then
powered and helps to produce
electricity.
5. Condenser Coolant
The steam is cooled from the turbine
and then condenses back into the
water which then leads to the steam
generator to be used again and
again.
