Teacher Evaluations

Description:
After gaining approval from my administrator, I evaluated two
teachers using the rubric provided by Allegany County Public
Schools. Observing teachers was an entirely new experience for
me, and I was amazed at the difficulty watching teachers and
critiquing them at the same time. I also noticed that although
these teachers were master teachers, and should have been at
ease with me, they still seemed nervous. I have been in the
classroom with these teachers numerous times, but I think that
because the word evaluation was attached, they did not feel
comfortable.

Reflection:

Although I thought I would enjoy this part of the Practicum, it was

actually my least favorite part. I did not enjoy making my
colleagues feel uncomfortable, and I did not feel as though I had
enough time to accurately evaluate their teaching skills, and I
definitely did not have a sufficient amount of time to address all
of the items.
