    Discourse Communities

    Family & Friends


    Joining- To be a part of you must be born or be known in the community. Also to be
    met within the members.
    Purpose- To be united and social amongst each other. To be supportive and also to
    experience difficulties and celebrations together.
    Genre- Personal letters , traveling cards, and birthday cards. Text messaging and
    emails.
    Vocabulary- Mom, Dad, I need, how fun, I love you.

    Wendy's Crew Member


    Joining- Has to be interviewed by general manager and meet standards.
    Purpose- To provide quality food, friendly customer service, and fast delivery of the
    products.
    Genre- Flyers, signs, cards, schedules and phone calls.
    Vocabulary- Front, side, behind , stir chili, hot chili, backroom, wash, dining, bacon,
    hot trays.

    UTEP
    Joining- Must have meet TSI requirements, also has to graduate high school and
    earn a diploma.
    Purpose- Graduate with a bachelor's in psychology to become clinical or
    experimental psychologist.
    Genre- Emails, online textbooks, documents and flyers.
    Vocabulary- notes, read, send, due, check, study,books.

    Music Group
    Joining- have a friend invite or meet a person involved.
    Purpose- Set up local bands and have them play their music and have host.
    Genre- Text, social media, emails, flyers.
    Vocabulary- Mics, stands, amp, snare, set, back, sticks.
