One of Jesus names is Word (the full and complete expression of
who God is as a person, Hebrews 1:3).
I. Jesus existed as God before His birth.
A. The Word was God (v. 1); He is described as:
1. God;
2. Eternal;
3. Creator;
4. Source of life.
B. The Word became flesh; this implies that He was
something other than flesh before.
1. He was spirit (see 4:24).
2. He still interacted with humans in various ways (Heb
1:1).
II. Jesus took on a human form when He became flesh.
A. He lived a normal human existence.
B. Though in human form, Jesus was still God, as seen in His
glory (v. 14).
C. Call His name Immanuel (Is 7:14) God with us.
III. Purpose: He came to have a part of the fleshly life so that
we could have a part in spiritual life.
A. Some received Him they believed on His name.
B. Those who believed were born of God (v. 13).
1. Spiritual birth does not come by blood family
relationship. No one is born a Christian.
2. Spiritual birth does not come by the will of the flesh
personal effort.
There is a difference between the dictionary definition of
what a Christian is and what the Bible says.
3. Spiritual birth does not come by the will of man
anothers decision. Spiritual birth comes by being "born
of God."
If God doesnt do a work within you, you are not a part of His family.
