POW 3 Write up

In this problem, I had to figure out the length of the tarp by calculating the lengths of the 3 lines
that make it up (PQ+QR+RS). In the problem, the length of every line except those 3 are given.
I have to figure out how to find the lengths of each side that makes up the tarp and then add
them all together to get the length of the tarp
The answer will be 26 meters after all the sides of the tarp are added up. I know this because I
used the pythagorean theorem to find all 3 sides of the tarp. I already had two sides of the
triangles with PQ and RS in them so all I had to do was use those lengths to get those last sides
(PQ=5 meters and RS=8.5 meters). Next, I drew a line through the middle shape to make line
QR the hypotenuse of a triangle. I already had the lengths of 2 sides of that triangle too so I just
used the pythagorean theorem to get the length of line QR (12.5 meters). Last, I added the 3
lines together and got 26 meters.
The length of the tarp is 26 meters long. PQ= 5 meters, QR= 12.5 meters, and RS= 8.5 meters.
My prediction was right. The tarp was 26 meters long. I know I am correct because I double
checked my work and solved the problem backwards with the numbers I got as answers. I also
know my answer is correct because this is the only logical way I can think of to solve this
problem without doing something really weird that we probably havent learned about yet.
