The NWS Prediction Center on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 forecast that the
Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area would likely have some precipitation during the morning
hours for Friday, November 27, 2015. A cold front stretching from California to Texas
and then heading northward into Canada was moving south and by Friday would
bring rain to the middle portion of Texas. The Doppler image for Friday, November
27, showed the Dallas/Fort Worth area receiving precipitation between 25 to 40
dBZ. METAR data for the Dallas/Love field area confirmed they were receiving light
rain and mist with an overhead cloud deck at 1800 feet AGL. Freezing rain was
predicted but the METAR data showed the temperature was 44o F. The prediction for
a chance of rain in Dallas and the upper Texas area was accurate as scattered
showers were evident on the Doppler radar.
